Former US Football Star Lived In Stadium For 2 Years. Read His Story

Former NFL star Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson. This story may not match the flashy reputation of former NFL star Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, but he recently admitted that he spent the first two years of his career living in the Cincinnati Bengals' stadium because it provided everything he needed to survive. On the Club Shay Shay podcast, hosted by Shannon Sharpe, he said, "You gotta remember, I stayed at the stadium the first two years because I didn't want to spend no money." "Why are you telling me to rent a house or buy a house when everything I need is right at the facility?" Showers, cafeteria, TV, couch, gaming system What's the point? I was so locked in. "It wasn't about having my own space." He claimed that if the Bengals' then-head coach Marvin Lewis hadn't ejected him, he would have remained for longer. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who earlier this week announced Pakistan was expecting to get help from China, took to social media to confirm that the money had been transferred. "Funds USD 700 million received today by State Bank of Pakistan from China Development Bank," Dar tweeted. It prompted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to express gratitude to the "special friend" of Pakistan. "There is an allied country of Pakistan, we were all thinking that they were waiting for the IMF agreement and then they would play their part but that allied nation a few days ago conveyed to us that 'we are giving you [this financial help] straight away', and thes

"BJP Councillors Attacked Me": Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi

Violent clashes broke out between many councillors of the AAP and the BJP. New Delhi: Hours after the municipal House was rocked by fresh clashes between the councillors of the BJP and the AAP, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Friday alleged that a few members of the saffron party inflicted life-threatening attack on her. At a press conference in Delhi, she alleged that her colleague Ashu Thakur was also attacked by another BJP councillor. There was no immediate reaction from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shortly before the media interaction held at the Civic Centre, the mayor adjourned the House and announced that the election to six members of the standing committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will be held afresh on February 27 at 11 am. AAP MLA Atishi alleged Ms Thakur was held by her scarf and dragged from the dais to one of the exit gates of the House. Singer R Kelly Gets New 20-Year Jail Term For Child Pornography Crimes

R Kelly, 56, is already serving a 30-year sentence. (File) New York: A US judge on Thursday handed disgraced R&B singer R Kelly a 20-year prison term for child pornography and other charges -- but he will serve most of it simultaneously with a previous sentence. Kelly, 56, is already serving a 30-year sentence he received after a Brooklyn jury in a separate federal trial convicted him on racketeering and sex trafficking charges. The judge in Chicago -- Kelly's hometown, where he was once seen as a source of pride -- ruled that most of the new sentence would be served concurrently with the previous one, with all but one year taken at the same time. That Kelly will spend a maximum of 31 years in prison is a win for the defense, which urged in its sentencing memorandum that "a concurrent sentence is what fairness demands," accusing the prosecution of engaging in a "quest to ensure that Kelly never sees the light of day." His lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, i

Harvey Weinstein Sentenced To 16 Years In Rape Case

Harvey Weinstein, 70, is appealing in both cases. (File) Los Angeles: Former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was sentenced Thursday to 16 years in prison for the rape of a woman in a Beverly Hills hotel room a decade ago. The sentence was handed down by a Los Angeles court. Weinstein is already serving a 23-year sentence for his separate 2020 conviction in New York for sex crimes. It increases the likelihood that the Academy Award-winning "Shakespeare in Love" producer, 70, will spend the remainder of his life in prison -- though he is appealing in both cases. In December, he was convicted by a Los Angeles jury of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and sexual penetration by a foreign object of a European actress whose identity was not revealed. The court heard explicit accounts of meetings between the previously influential movie producer and several young women who were attempting to find a foothold in Hollywood. Prosecutors said Weinstein exploited and abused wo

Regulator Will Have Power To Block English Clubs From Joining Super League

Ministers have announced plans for an independent football regulator to oversee the financial sustainability of the men's game in England, with powers to prevent clubs from joining breakaway leagues. The regulator would license clubs, requiring them to demonstrate sound financial business models, run robust owners' and directors' tests and give fans a greater say in the running of clubs. It would also have the power to block clubs joining breakaway leagues, appearing to prevent a repeat of any attempt to form a Super League such as the one that proved so unpopular with supporters in 2021. "Despite the success of the sport both at home and abroad, we know that there are real challenges which threaten the stability of clubs both big and small," said British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. "These bold new plans will put fans back at the heart of football, protect the rich heritage and traditions of our much-loved clubs and safeguard the beautiful game for future

Bureaucrat's Thought-Provoking Tweet On Evolution Of Phones Goes Viral

The bureaucrat shared a photo of a vintage telephone to empahsise his point Without a doubt, technology has made our lives easier, and more convenient. However, as they say, excess of anything is bad. We have become too dependent on technology that we are not using our brains to their full potential. Commenting on the same shift, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Awanish Sharan shared a hard-hitting post about how life was much simpler before the evolution of smartphones and shiny gadgets. Through his tweet, Mr Sharan highlighted how the evolution of smartphones has impacted human beings to the point that we are no ''longer free''. To emphasise his point, he shared a photo of a black-and-white telephone on a pedestal. "When the phone was tied with a wire - Humans were free," reads the text below. Google, Mercedes-Benz Partner to Bring These New Features for Carmaker

Mercedes-Benz said on Wednesday that it has partnered with Google to develop branded navigation for its new MB.OS operating system, as carmakers seek more control over technology in their vehicles. The system will equip Mercedes-Benz cars with Google traffic information and automatic rerouting, and enable drivers to watch YouTube on the cars' entertainment system when the car is parked, or in Level 3 autonomous driving mode. Level 3 driving, for which Mercedes-Benz has received certification in Germany and Nevada, allows a driver to take their eyes off the wheel on certain roads as long as they can resume control if needed. Google and Mercedes-Benz also agreed to explore further collaboration with Google Cloud data and artificial intelligence capabilities. Mercedes-Benz is moving from a patchwork approach of integrating software from a range of suppliers to controlling the core of its software, Chief Executive Ola Kaellenius said on a media call on Wednesday, "That's

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People's Party (NPP) supremo Conrad K Sangma on Monday asserted that neither he nor his party had any role in denying permission for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election rally at the PA Sangma Sports Complex in Tura. The sports department has informed the West Garo Hills district authorities that permission cannot be given for the PM's rally there as construction debris may pose safety concerns. 53 Killed In Ambush Blamed On ISIS, Deadliest Attack In Syria In A Year

46 civilians and seven soldiers were killed in the attack. (Representational) Lebanon: At least 53 people were killed in an ambush in central Syria Friday blamed on ISIS, state media reported, the deadliest attack by the jihadists in more than a year. "Fifty-three citizens who were truffle hunting were killed during an attack by the terrorists of ISIS to the southwest of the town of Al-Sokhna" in the desert east of Homs, state television said. The director of Palmyra hospital, Walid Audi, said those killed were 46 civilians and seven soldiers. Audi told pro-government radio station Sham FM that their bodies had "been brought to the hospital after the ambush" that targeted dozens. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights had also reported the attack earlier on Friday. Separately on Friday, the US Central Command said four American military personnel were injured in a blast during a raid that killed a senior ISIS leader in Syria. The ISIS leade

Turkey Finds New Survivor 278 Hours After Massive Quake That Killed 41,000

The quake has killed more than 41,000 people in Turkey and Syria. (Representational) Turkey: Turkish rescuers on Friday pulled a 45-year-old man from rubble nearly 12 days after a devastating quake claimed tens of thousands of lives. Teams have been finding survivors all week despite them being stuck for so long under the rubble in freezing weather, although their numbers have dropped to just a handful in the past few days. The man, Hakan Yasinoglu, was rescued 278 hours after the 7.8-magnitude tremor in badly hit Hatay, a southern province near the Syrian border. Images on social media showed rescuers gingerly carrying a stretcher with the man through the ruins of a flattened building. He was tied down to the stretcher to avoid a fall, and covered with a golden thermal jacket. He was immediately placed in a waiting ambulance and whisked away. His face could not be seen, and unlike other late rescues, where teams rejoiced or applauded, the mood on the ground seemed sombre.

How Case Against YouTube Involving ISIS May "Alter The Way Internet Works"

The lawsuit accuses YouTube of providing "material support" to ISIS. (File) Washington: In 2021, a California state court threw out a feminist blogger's lawsuit accusing Twitter Inc of unlawfully barring as "hateful conduct" posts criticizing transgender people. In 2022, a federal court in California tossed a lawsuit by LGBT plaintiffs accusing YouTube, part of Alphabet Inc, of restricting content posted by gay and transgender people. These lawsuits were among many scuttled by a powerful form of immunity enshrined in US law that covers internet companies. Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 frees platforms from legal responsibility for content posted online by their users. In a major case to be argued at the US Supreme Court on Tuesday, the nine justices will address the scope of Section 230 for the first time. A ruling weakening it could expose internet companies to litigation from every direction, legal experts said. "There's
